An Evening with Tim Murphy, Author of Correspondents
Andover Bookstore presents an evening with Tim Murphy, author of the new novel Correspondents, which Kirkus Reviews calls "propulsive and engrossing and rooted in the simplest of storytelling points: Empathy can erase prejudice." "What makes this novel so good is the characters—the complexity of their lives and familial obligations, the empathy they evoke, the mistakes that they make and the positions they hold—as well as the author’s deftly human portrayal of the Iraq War." Kite Runner author Khaled Hosseini said of it: "Murphy artfully connects multiple narratives to produce a sprawling tale of love, family, duty, war, and displacement."
Lawrence and North Andover native Tim Murphy is also the author of the novels Getting Off Clean, The Breeders Box and Christodora, which was longlisted for the 2017 Andrew Carnegie Medal. He has worked as a journalist for the past 25 years in New York City, for publications including The New York Times, New York magazine, The Nation, Out and The Advocate.
